The following lists
include all of the slides shown and discussed in class--barring last-minute
inspirations. Please note that lectures are named for the range of topics,
and usually contain several movements or periods under one broad title.
Works by individual artists on the web lists are grouped under the movement(s)
with which they are most often associated.
The major focus this
quarter is on movements that took place during the nineteenth century.
This means that many of them will overlap, and many artists participated
in more than one artistic "conversation." It is extremely difficult
to separate artists chronologically--so don't even bother. Concentrate
on knowing what movement particular works exemplify, and know the range
of movements in which each artist was involved. Lists are currently being
revised, and links will be updated accordingly.
